Yoga and meditation brings you in balance with yourself. With being in balance you get more peaceful and calm- this feeling of calmness is not only existing when you practice yoga or meditation- a good yoga or meditationteacher helps you to integrate the achievement of peacefulness in your daily life. Consequently, when it comes to difficult situations in your relationships, you automatically take a step back from the disharmony and in order to keep the balance, you listen to your inner voice, which you have an easier access to due to meditation and yoga, and it will tell you the underlying reason for this conflict with your partner. You realize, you are not your thoughts-you have got thoughts. You can switch them off when they are disturbing. Same goes for pain, emotions and any other sensation. Following to Yoga, you are a higher consciousness, whom can take a step back and look at its emotions and thoughts as sensations which are travelling through your body. They are changing all the time, so they are not your true self. With having that pattern of mind integrated in your psyche, you understand that all these things that cause conflicts are not part of your divine self but just sensations which are, all the time changing, not worth to let them have a real effect on any of your relationships. With that pattern, you also understand the behavior of your partner better, who maybe just acted accordingly to some spontaneous sensation-and that was not him but some vibration travelling through his or her body. Consequently you find out more easy what bothers and disharmonizes you and your partner in a relationship.
Yoga and meditation is all about finding unity, that is literally what relationships are about- so with keeping the practice, you look after the relationship with yourself, which makes you automatically practice relationships with other beings too. This is a real benefit for every relationship, you will be a better partner or friend, as the harmony that flows in you will help you to keep the harmony.
Moreover mindfulness is very helpful, as you are more conscious of your words and actions, it has a result of being more sensitive with all other people, and you get more sensitive of feeling energies and sensing their emotions or longings earlier.
Another benefiting teaching of Yoga and meditation is to stop judging yourself and others- and with releasing the judgemental part of you, you get more empathetic to every other being.

In general one can say, that the combination of Yoga and meditation will teach you how to understand yourself and how to have a harmonic relationship, free of judgement, with yourself. And loving and understanding yourself is the essence of having any kind of balanced relationship to any other human being.

Sophie Nusselder

My name is Sophie Nusselder. I started practicing and teaching yoga in 2008 and knew I started travelling a path that would change my life. Ever since my childhood I remember having a natural desire for physical movement. Born and raised on the Dutch countryside I loved to bike and hike in nature. The awareness of the breath in yoga made me connect with deeper layers. A fortification of magic in life! To me yoga means aligning. Yoga and meditation are tools to remove that what blocks me and allow space – the space of pure presence. By constantly returning to this space I discover what truth is and what is not. It’s direct communication, which results in pure clarity, free feelings, liberation and creativity. I experience yoga as a feeding of my deepest yearning, it creates challenges to develop myself and it works as a support in my inner pursuits.
